Indy Southside Beekeepers Club Meeting Reminder - March 5, 2024

The next Indy Southside Beekeepers Club meeting will be Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Meetings are held at the Franklin Township Civic League office, 8822 Southeastern Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46239.
Please send your suggestions for this month’s agenda to me by Saturday March 2, 2024. I'll send an agenda out on Sunday.
This month we will continue the discussion on a Club website. Last month Daniel Karagory discussed pros, cons, ins and outs of having a website for the Club. Please click on these links and look at the examples that Daniel put together so that we can have a good discussion and decide if we should move forward. Please click on the links and make some notes of what you like, what you don't like or suggestions for improvement.

Dave Meyer from Meyer bees donated a smoker, 4 hive tools, a queen clip, a bee brush and a frame grabber/holder. We are going to raffle these items off by selling tickets at the March meeting. Each item will be raffled separately. The proceeds will go to the Club treasury.

This month's agenda includes:
Club Business -
1. Treasurer's report
2. Equipment Raffle - we will do a silent raffle of 4 hive tools, a smoker, a bee brush a queen clip and a frame grip from Dave Meyer of Meyer Bees. Raffle tickets will be 50 cents each or 3 for $1. Buy as many as you want and put them in the cup for the item you want. Each item will be raffled separately. The proceeds will go to the Club treasury.

Q&A -
1. Doing spring splits - timing, methods, etc.
2. Requeening in the spring - why requeen a split? Do I need to requeen all of my hives in the spring?
3. How do I prevent my hive from swarming? Has anyone use the Demaree method to prevent swarming?
4. My frames are moldy from winter storage, how do I clean them up?
